Transit cargo shipments through Latvian ports up 26.9 percent

The volume of cargo transported by Latvia railways in Januray-February leaped by 28.6% from last year's figures to 10.99 million tons, the Baltic Course reported citing the country's Transport Ministry statistics.


Transit cargo traffic through the Latvian ports rose 26.9% year-on-year to 8.94 million tons. Inland traffic volumes were up 15.9% from 2011's numbers, to 162,100 tons, LETA reported.
 
Shipments of inbound and outbound cargo fell 19.2% and 21.5%, respectively.
