Hong Kong port moved 1.65m teu of containers in February, representing a year-on-year increase but a month-on-month decline, Seatrade Asia online reports. February figures rose 7.7% compared to 1.53m teu in the same month of 2011, according to statistics from the Marine Department. Month-on-month, last month's throughput dropped from 1.97m teu recorded in January.
In the first two months of this year, Hong Kong handled 3.62m teu of throughput, slipping 0.3% compared to the corresponding period of last year.
In 2011, Hong Kong posted container throughput of 24.4m teu.
