Cosco Shipyard inks contract to build jack-up vessel

Cosco Shipyard Group has inked a contract valued over $150m to build an offshore wind turbine installation vessel for an European shipowner, Seatrade Asia online reports. The shipyard, a 51% owned subsidiary of Cosco Corporation (Singapore) will deliver the vessel to A2Sea in 2014. This is the second jack-up vessel which Cosco will be building for the shipowner.
The wind turbine installation vessel will be designed to be able to carry eight to 10 wind turbines at a time to operate at water depths of up to 45 metres and will have a crane capacity of up to 900 tonnes.
