Oman Shipping Company takes delivery of 'IZKI' at Daewoo Shipbuilding

Oman Shipping Company S.A.O.C. (OSC) took delivery of a Very Large Crude Carrier (VLCC) "IZKI", at Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd (DSME), Okpo, South Korea.
"IZKI" is designed and constructed according to the latest international standards, and it has advanced ballast water treatment technology to comply with international conventions on the protection of the environment from the effects of transportation of ballast water and sediments around the world. The vessel has 317,000 deadweight (DWT) capacity, is 333 meters in length overall, 60 meter in beam and has a design draft of 21 meters. This vessel will be technically managed by International Tanker Management (ITM), Dubai, which is a subsidiary of "V Ships". "IZKI" will trade in the VL8 Pool, a joint venture company between OSC, Navig8 and VTN, based in Singapore. Including this vessel, OSC now has 13 out of 14 VLCCs in the VL8 Pool.
Since commercial operations began in 2003, OSC now has a fleet of 34 vessels, and an order book of 7 vessels to be delivered between now and 2014. The DWT capacity of the current fleet is around 5.3 million DWT, increasing to around 8 million DWT once the order book is delivered.
Oman Shipping Company S.A.O.C. is a closed joint stock company, incorporated in 2003 and owned by the Government of the Sultanate of Oman through the Ministry of Finance (80%) and Oman Oil Company S.A.O.C. (20%), headquartered in Muscat, Oman. It was established to transport the Sultanate's oil and gas products to world markets, provide Omani shipping services to the country's trade partners in other commodities, and to re-vitalize Oman's seafaring tradition. The Company is involved in ship owning, chartering and management activities through its subsidiary companies: Oman Charter Company S.A.O.C., Oman Ship Management Company S.A.O.C., and Oman Container Line S.A. In 2011, the Company's turnover was $280m, operating profit of $156m, and total assets of $3.3bn. OSC's Omanisation ratio is 85%, and the Company has an active cadet program for Omani Deck and Engineering staff.
Oman Shipping Company's fully owned subsidiary, Oman Ship Management Company (OSMC), based in Muscat, now has the technical management of 15 vessels "In-House", comprising of 6 LNG vessels, 1 LPG vessel, 3 VLCCs, 1 Chemical Tanker, 2 Methanol carriers and 2 Multi-Purpose Vessels. Recently, in September 2011, OSMC was awarded ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 accreditation, recognizing its adoption of international standards and best practices in Ship Management.
Oman Shipping Company's fully owned subsidiary, Oman Container Lines (OCL) commenced a new fixed day weekly liner service, in February 2011, connecting the ports of Jebel Ali and Salalah.
