Greenship ventures into gas and dry bulk shipping

Singapore-based Greenship Holdings has established two separate entities to expand into shipowning and operating activities in the gas and dry bulk sectors, Seatrade Asia online reports. Greenship Holding, wholly owned by Jaccar Holdings, aims to own and operate advanced, fuel efficient and environmentally friendly vessels. Its commitment to 30 vessels in the gas and dry bulk sectors will require a total investment of around $900m. The vessels are expected to go into operation within the next two years,

One of the entities Greenship Gas currently sits on an existing fleet of eight vessels and has 18 more on its orderbook. All newbuildings have been ordered from Sinopacific Offshore & Engineering shipyard in China.

Greenship Bulk, on the other hand, will manage the bulk shipping investments and it has invested in a first series of eight new generation ultramax 63,000 dwt ships to be built in Yangzhou Dayang Shipyard with environmentally friendly features and low fuel consumption parameters.

“Greenship Holdings intends to further expand its investments in green and advanced ships while opening up equity partnership to other investors into any Greenship entities,” Greenship Holdings said in a statement.
