Dhamra Port has achieved a record discharge of 98,119 MT of non-coking coal in a time span of 24 hours from a vessel, PTI reports. This is a national record which was achieved by the port yesterday with the use of two highly mechanised ship un-loaders, a release from Dhamra Port Company Limited (DPCL) said today. The vessel MV Alfa Friendship from South Africa commenced her discharge at 15:45 hours on March 27 carrying a parcel of 148,103 MT of South African coal belonging to Visa Resources India Limited, Maithan Ispat Limited and Kyori Oremin Limited. In addition to achieving high discharge rates from vessels, Dhamra Port has also been dispatching 8 to 9 rakes per day, it said. DPCL CEO Santosh Kumar Mohapatra congratulated his entire team for this achievement. Dhamra Port is a 50:50 joint venture of L&T and Tata Steel. The port commenced commercial operation on May 6, 2011. So far more than 82 ships have berthed at Dhamra Port which includes over 12 capesize vessels.
