Avic Singapore wins $60m shipbuilding contract

Avic Singapore, China-based shipbuilding management and consultancy services provider, secured a $60m contract to construct five vessels, Seatrade Asia online reports. The vessels are three units of 55 tons bollard pull tugboats, one diver boat and one 1,000 dwt bunker tanker. The vessels will be built at the group's subcontracted shipyards in China and they are slated for delivery in 2013.
“This is our first major shipbuilding contract win since our listing on the Singapore Exchange in September last year,” said Diao Weicheng, non-executive chairman at Avic Singapore.
“We are forging ahead with our growth strategy to expand along the ship-design, shipbuilding and ship-trading related businesses value chain, in addition to further developing our existing shipbuilding management and consultancy business,” he added.
