Peru ports container throughput to rise to 2mln TEU by 2014

Peru’s National Port Authority has forecast that cargo handled by its national ports network will rise by 14%-15% on average over the next five years, Port Strategy reports.
By 2014, it suggested that national container throughput will have risen to 2m teu, rising to 3.5m teu by 2018.
In support of that forecast, $3bn will be spent over the next five years on upgrading eight Peruvian ports.
Those affected will be Paita, Salaverry, Chimbote, Callao, San Juan de Marcona, Ilo, Matarani and the river port of Iquitos.
