CPV’s cargo volume grows 14.1 percent to 1.65m tons

Cargo shipments from Vladivostok-based stevedoring company JSC Commercial Seaport of Vladivostok (CPV) in the first quarter of 2012 increased by 14.1 percent from the same period a year before, to 1,649,300 tons, the CPV’s press release said.


The three-month volume of outbound, inbound goods and short sea traffic totaled 890,700 tons, including dry bulk cargo, liquid bulk and other general cargoes (excluding containers and imported vehicles).


Container traffic in the reporting period rose 2.2% to 98,666 TEUs. Handling of imported cars and other vehicles reached 15,630 units.


In Jan-Mar, daily cargo volume at the CPV’s terminals was 18,124 tons of different cargos. The stevedore was handling an average of 260 rail cars a day.


Commercial Seaport of Vladivostok, member of FESCO Transport Group, owns and operates the facilities based at the port of Vladivostok, a premier Russian seaport in the Far East region. CPV receives ships at 17 berths, including the specialized ones for handling containers, imported cars and passengers. In 2011, CPV’s cargo throughput fell 7.8% year-over-year to 6.38 million tons.
