OMS Shipping accepts delivery of three multipurpose tugs of Project TG-05

Aktau-based OMS Shipping has taken delivery of three shallow-draft multipurpose Anchor Handling Tug Supply Salvage Service vessels (AHTS) of Project TG05 for the North Caspian Sea. The three tugboats named "Phoenix", "Orion" and "Hercules" were built at Nanjing East Star shipyard, the project designer Marine Engineering Bureau said.

The Kazakhstan company is expanding its owned fleet for offshore operations in the country’s sector of the Caspian Sea.

The tug is designed for towing operations at sea, in port or at offshore anchor; for firefighting on offshore floating platforms and onshore facilities and other vessels.

Ship main characteristics:  LOA – 30.72 m, LBP – 26.80 m, breadth overall – 11.55 m, beam molded - 10,60 m, depth – 4.50 m, draft ranges from 2.50 to 2.90 meters, main engines power rated - 2 x 800 kW. The vessel was classed to Russian Register of Shipping’s - KM * Ice2 RI AUT3-C FF3WS Tug.


The first serial tug Phoenix (build number OMS-801) was laid down on 20 October 2010, launched on March 30, 2011 and commissioned on March 5, 2012.

The keel of the Orion (OMS-802) was laid on October 25, 2010, launched on April 15, 2011 and commissioned on March 6, 2012.

The Hercules (OMS-803) was laid down on 30 October 2010, launched on April 26, 2011  and commissioned on March 7, 2012.

OMS SHIPPING LLP was founded in 2007 in Kazakhstan. The company transports rocks cargo for land reclamation and construction of artificial islands for the Kashagan Caspian project. OMS Shipping operates its own and leased barges and tugs, tankers and other vessels.
 
Nanjing East Star Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. (ESS) is a joint venture company invested by Hong Kong Tong Sheng Marine Limited. ESS has more than 1,300 employees (including more than 100 technical engineers and designers). ESS is dedicated to construction of ranged vessels with dead weight under 15,000tons. The shipyard’s products are sold to Belgium, UAE, Neitherland, Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Hong Kong and Taiwan.
