The Korea Shipbuilders' Association appoints new chairman
The Korea Shipbuilders' Association (Koshipa) has welcomed its new 13th chairman Ko Jae-Ho, who is the current president of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME), Seatrade Asia online reports. Ko, appointed on 9 April, is serving out the remaining term of former chairman Nam Sang-Tae until 18 March 2013, following Nam's voluntary retirement.
“Korea's shipbuilding and offshore industries face fierce global competitions. In order to maintain its superior place, I will work hard to make a market environment where fair competition takes place among member shipbuilders,” Ko said.
Ko joined DSME in 1980 and climbed to the position of ceo after 32 years with the company.
