Shin Yang Shipping starts new service from Thailand to Borneo

Shin Yang Shipping (SYS), a wholly owned subsidiary of Shin Yang Shipping Corporation, the major listed company of Bursa Malaysia Securities, has launched a new service, East Malaysia Express (EME), to connect Thailand with Malaysia's eastern portion on the island of Borneo, reported The Nation.

EME will be the first shipping line to offer direct service from Bangkok's Unithai Container Terminal to ports in East Malaysia. It will be berthed at UTCT on a weekly basis before departure to Kota Kinabalu, Bintulu, Kuching, Sibu, Miri, Sandakan and Tawau in East Malaysia and Muara Port in Brunei.

SYS is represented in Thailand by Sea Container Maritime Co. In addition to EME, Shin Yang provides shipper's own container (SOC) service for both dry and refrigerated containers to Port Klang in West Malaysia.

UTCT is the only purpose-built private container terminal with advance handling equipment on the Chao Phraya River. The terminal was developed to serve Thailand's growing containerised cargo traffic.
