The new grain terminal in Odessa Commercial Sea Port will be commissioned in September 2013, Echo reports citing a Ukrainian official.
Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Boris Kolesnikov, who attended an official ceremony at the facility construction site, nailed a symbolic first pile.
The official noted that the terminal will be handling up to 15% of Ukrainian exports of grain.
The facility project worth $125 million will be funded by Brooklyn-Kiev, a local stevedore company that invests $85 m in the project, and state-owned Odessa Commercial Sea Port ($40). The new terminal projected annual capacity is 4 million tons of grain. The project break-even point is 5 years.
The terminal will feature a 254m-long and 13m-deep berth, which will be able to accommodate 60,000dwt vessels.
