Cargo throughput at the port of Singapore for the first quarter of 2012 increased by 5% compared to the same period in 2011, to 133.67 million tons, the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore said.
In January-March, crude oil shipments decreased by 1.84% to 43.2 million tons. Container traffic rose 6.6% from a year earlier to 7 million 536,900 TEUs.
Singapore is the city-state located on an island in Southeast Asia. Container traffic at Port of Singapore in 2011 rose 5.3% year-over-year, to 29.93 million TEUs. Annual cargo throughput at the port totaled 530.48 million tons.
