The new connection will support the growing interest of ”Near Porting” from local industries as well as decrease the environmental impact from cargo transport and traffic jammed populated areas around the Danish capital, Copenhagen, also situated on the island Zealand.
The new traffic has been developed in cooperation with the Port of Kalundborg and among others Novozymes A/S, who has a stronghold of industrial activities in Kalundborg with e.g. the world’s biggest enzyme producing facility.
Novozymes A/S has shown a genuine interest in developing a container connection between the western parts of Zealand to the main ports in Northern Europe, thereby increasing the logistical possibilities for the whole area.
The Port of Kalundborg, which belongs among the largest in Denmark, has established Kalundborg Container Terminal in cooperation with Schultz Shipping A/S. The terminal will be equipped with modern container handling equipment and the well-known container booking facilities PIC-system.
Unifeeder will start the new traffic with the first departure from Bremerhaven and Hamburg 12th May with arrival in Kalundborg 14th May, and will be ready in Hamburg again on 17th May and Bremerhaven on 18th May.
