Hapag-Lloyd terminates Mediterranean West Africa Express (MWX)

Hapag-Lloyd will discontinue its current Mediterranean West Africa Express (MWX) effective mid-May 2012, which today connects Algeciras and Tangier with Tema, Lagos/Apapa and Cotonou, the Company said on Thursday.

Conti Seattle 002E, ETS Tema, May 30, 2012


On April 5, 2012 the Company introduced the improved West Africa service network as from May 2012.

"The enhanced West Africa Express (WAX) and the new complementary West Africa Mediterranean Express (WMX) will improve our West Africa service substantially in terms of reliability, frequency and faster transit times to and from West Africa," the carrier press release said.

The new service structure will offer an improved connectivity to other trades via transshipment at Tangier onto our major services ex US West Coast, Caribbean, South America East Coast, North Europe as well as Mediterranean.
