Evergreen to enhance Asian network

Evergreen Line will enhance its network in Asia by adding a Japan-Thailand-Vietnam service and a Belawan-Malaysia feeder (BMS) route, Seatrade Asia online reports. The Taiwanese container line will add the Japan-Thailand-Vietnam service through slots purchases on the NYK and Bangkok-based carrier Siam Patella's Phoenix service (PHX) with a first sailing from Laem Chabang on 24 April.

The port rotation of PHX is Kobe, Osaka, Nagoya, Tokyo, Yokohama, Laem Chabang, Bangkok, Laem Chabang, Ho Chi Minh City (Cat Lai), Hong Kong and back to Kobe.

Evergreen will also introduce the weekly intra-Asia BMS route by deploying one 1,164 teu ship on 28 April from Tanjung Pelepas. The service rotation is Belawan, Penang, Tanjung Pelepas and back to Belawan.

Evergreen said the abundant natural resources enable Indonesia and Malaysia to maintain strong exports of raw materials. The large populations of the two countries are also expected to boost the growth of the consumer markets and drive the increase in import volumes.
