Marco Polo Marine is set to join the Singapore bunkering business through a new joint venture, Seatrade Asia online reports. The Singapore-listed firm has entered into a 50:50 joint venture with Marine Tankers Holdings for the owning and management of bunker tankers with a view to providing bunkering services. The joint venture will start out owning two double-hulled bunker tankers from July this year.
“Having successfully ventured into offshore market in late 2010, we have assessed bunkering operations to be a related potential engine of growth,” said Sean Lee, ceo of Marco Polo.
Marine Tanker Holdings is a holding company that includes Singapore bunker supplier Sinanju Tankers.
