Rickmers Maritime posts Q1 net profit of $8.24mln
Shipping Trust Rickmers Maritime reported a lower net profit for the first quarter of 2012 but continued to pare down its debts, Seatrade Asia online reports. The trust’s net profit for the first quarter of 2012 was $8.24m compared to $9.33m in the same quarter last year. Rickmers Maritime repaid $13.29m in debt in the quarter reducing its total debt to $608.63m as of the end of March.
“The trust has entered the new financial year on a positive note. Charter revenue has performed well on the back of the long-term leases attached to our fleet, and with the charter of Kaethe C. Rickmers to MSC, all 16 of our containerships are ensured employment throughout 2012,” said Thomas Preben Hansen, ceo of Rickmers Maritime.
The average daily charter hire per vessel is near $25,000 per day.
