Primorsk is able to handle 120 mln tons of oil - NCSP

The potential of annual crude oil and oil products throughput at Primorsk Trade Port is about 120 million tons, NCSP Interim CEO Rado Antolovic said Wednesday.

Speaking to participants of the round table discussions at the conference "TransRussia" in Moscow, the Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port CEO said that the port could be able to handle containers, iron ore, coal and fertilizer. These plans will be implemented only if Primorsk has the developed railway infrastructure. The construction of the Ermilovo Primorsk branch line might boost the port traffic volume to 500,000 tons a year.

Earlier, Transneft had announced its plans to redistribute the crude oil flows from the Primorsk Oil Terminal to the new BPS-2 P2 terminal based at the port of Ust-Luga due to congestion at the Primorsk facility. However, later Antolovich Rado said that Transneft has confirmed the previous volumes of crude deliveries to Primorsk for this year.

Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port Group is the largest Russian port operator. The NCSP Group incorporates the following stevedore companies: PJSC Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port, PJSC Novorossiysk Grain Terminal, OJSC Novorossiysk Shipyard, PJSC Fleet of NCSP, OJSC NovorosLesExport, OJSC IPP, Baltic Stevedoring Company Ltd. and PJSC Primorsk Trade Port Ltd. Novoport Holding Ltd, which is beneficially owned by Transneft and Ziyavudin Magomedov (Summa Group), holds a 50.1% stake in PJSC NCSP.

Primorsky Trade Port (PTP) is Russia’s premier port in the country’s North-West region for exports of crude oil and petroleum products. Primorsk Oil Terminal is the terminus of the Baltic Pipeline System (BPS) and main pipelines Kstovo-Yaroslavl-Kirishi-Primorsk (North Project) and JSC Transnefteproduct.
