NCSP Group’s throughput up 8.8 percent to 55.3 million tons (update)
Cargo handling across stevedoring divisions of Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port Group totaled in January-April 2012 55.3 million tons, a 8.8-percent growth from the same period a year before, the Group’s press release said.
In the reporting period, the Port of Novorossiysk saw a 20.1-percent gain in general cargoes or 0.6 million tons. The growth was pushed increased volume of ferrous metals - 0.7 million tons (+28.6%), of timber - 15.3% (+29,000 tons) and other cargoes – (+27,000 tons). The four-month volume of non-ferrous metals and perishables was down: by 30,000mt and 77,000 mt, accordingly.
Liquid bulk exports increased by 2.1 million tons, or up 4.8% from last year’s figure. Shipments of crude oil through the Group’s oil terminals rose 3.6%, (+38.5 million tons). The growth in crude exports was due to Primorsky Trade Port throughput: 1.4 million tons , or up 6.2% y-o-y. Handling of crude oil at the Port of Novorossiysk was slightly down (-0.4%).
In January-April, oil product exports rose 8.1% (+0.5 mln tons) to 6.7 million tons, including 2.1 mln tons of diesel fuel transshipped at Primorsky Trade Port.
Grain exports handled at Novorossiysk grain terminal totaled 3.1 million tons.
“In April 2012 the Group achieved record monthly cargo turnover volumes in its history - 14.2 million tons. In March-April 2012 the fallback against 2011 container handling schedule in Novorossiysk, which accrued during bad weather conditions, was eliminated. Volume of containers handled in Novorossiysk amounted to 152 thousand TEU, which is 3.1% more than in 2011," Acting CEO of PJCS NCSP Rado Antolovic said.
Overall volume of containerized imports / exports (in mt) rose 2.5%.
Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port is the largest Russian company and ranks third operator in Europe in terms of cargo throughput. The NCSP Group incorporates the following stevedore companies: PJSC Novorossiysk Commercial Sea Port, PJSC Novorossiysk Grain Terminal, OJSC Novorossiysk Shipyard, PJSC Fleet of NCSP, OJSC NovorosLesExport, OJSC IPP, Baltic Stevedoring Company Ltd. and PJSC Primorsk Trade Port Ltd. Novoport Holding Ltd, which is beneficially owned by Transneft and Ziyavudin Magomedov (Summa Group), holds a 50.1% stake in PJSC NCSP. Consolidated revenue according to IFRS for the nine months of 2011 totaled $782 million and EBITDA of $404 million. NCSP shares are traded on Russia's MICEX exchange (NMTP) and on the London Stock Exchange in the form of GDRs (NCSP). In 2011, cargo traffic at NCSP Group totaled 157 million tons.
