Rosmorport projects docking facilities for icebreakers in St. Petersburg
Rosmorport is considering the construction of a berthing complex for docking and maintenance of icebreakers in the eastern part of the Coal Harbour of Big Port St. Petersburg, a Rosmorport official said on Thursday.
Sergei Pylin, head of the local branch of Rosmorport, who was speaking a meeting of St. Petersburg government’s Maritime Board, said that the project will include the construction of 546-m-long Berth Number 89 with seabed level mark of 12 m, and Berth Number 90, 243m in length and depth mark of 7 meters.
The facilities will be utilized for docking the icebreakers not engaged in ship escorts. They will be refilled and replenish the stock, receive all the necessary services. Overall, the branch of Rosmorport owns a fleet of 13 ice-breakers.
The berthing complex project is valued at RUB 1.5 billion (RUB 1.4bn from the federal budget). The government has allocated in the 2012 budget some RUB 100 million. Next year the project will receive 760 million rubles and in 2014 - 550 million rubles.
