Green group set to picket oil terminals at Yeisk Port
A local environmentalist group in Russian southern city of Yeisk is going to hold a rally on May 26th against the Yeisk Port-based oil terminals owned by two companies "TTDH" and "Yeisk Port-Vista," the North Caucasus Environmental Watch said.
The organizers of the rally are the green group activist Sergei Sinitsyn and a member of Yeisk District Council Alexander Baturinets. The organizers said the rally would be attended by representatives of political parties. The activists will start the collection of signatures on a petition of local people. The event was coordinated with the Yeisk District Administration.
The terminals located in the center of Yeisk on the coast of the Azov Sea, were built for exports of petroleum products. Besides, the port mulls the construction of a ferry for the transshipment of dangerous goods.
