Chongqing port April throughput rises 25.3%
Inland ports in China continue to grow strongly, with the Port of Chongqing moving 241,000 teu in the first four months of this year, up 23% from the previous corresponding period, Seatrade Asia online reports.
For the same period, Chongqing's waterway container traffic increased 25.9% to 201,000 teu. For the month of April, container throughput grew 25.3% from April 2011 to 59,000 teu. This was a 7.5% rise from the previous month.
In April, Chongqing's waterborne container throughput grew 19% year-on-year and 11.5% month on month to 55,000 teu.
