APL, PIL to launch Far East-Red Sea service
APL and Pacific International Lines (PIL) announced on Wednesday the launch of a new joint service linking the Far East and Red Sea, Seatrade Asia online reports. Eight post-panamax ships of about 6,000 teu will be deployed in the joint service. APL will operate three ships and PIL will operate five. The first vessel will leave Shanghai port on 21 June.
APL and PIL said the Red Sea is an important market for exporters in central and southern China.
The weekly port rotation of the new service will be Shanghai, Ningbo, Xiamen, Chiwan, Nansha, Singapore, Djibouti, Aden, Jeddah, Sukhna, Aqaba, Djibouti, Singapore, Nansha, and back to Shanghai.
