Hyundai Heavy Industries wins car carriers order
Hyundai Heavy Industries (HHI), the world's largest shipbuilder, won a contract to build up to four pure car carriers for Eukor Car Carriers.
Eukor has penned an order for two 6,600-ceu carriers plus an option for two more with HHI. The carriers are scheduled to be delivered in the second half of 2013.
The newbuilding price is estimated at around $67m each.
Analysts are expecting more orders for pure car carrier newbuildings as the order backlog in the sector currently stands at just 6% of the total fleet.
