Maersk Line plans to lower Taiwan-Australia surcharges

Maersk Line announced plans to further lower bunker surcharges imposed earlier on cargo moving to and from Taiwan, Australia and the Pacific Ocean Islands, effective Dec. 21. In an advisory to the trade, the carrier said the revised surcharges will be $325 per TEU and $650 per FEU, compared with $475 and $950 at present. In a separate notice, the Danish carrier said it plans to reduce such charges for the trade from the Far East, the Middle East, the Indian Subcontinent and the Red Sea to the West Coast of South America.
Effective Dec. 15, the surcharges will be $666 per TEU and $1,332 per FEU, down from $990 and $1,980 imposed earlier.
