Sea Port of Saint Petersburg invests in refrigerated terminal

From the beginning of 2008, Sea Port of Saint Petersburg OJSC has invested over RUR 65 mln in preparatory and design work on construction of a refrigerated terminal in the territory of the First Stevedoring Company.

Two warehouses (No 30 and No 34) have been demolished at the berth No 17, a tender has been held for dismantling of three refrigerators at the berth No 19 and the warehouse No 31 at the berth No 18. Besides, the berth No 21 is under reconstruction, the company’s press center reports.

The cleared territories are to be built with new refrigerator facilities for different categories of goods (with temperature from -28С to +14С) and an open ground for storage of containerized cargo.

The new terminal’s annual design capacity is 1.5 million tonnes of refrigerated cargo. The project is being implemented within the framework of a complex Program of the Group Development.

The terminal will make it possible to cut expenses of large importers of St. Petersburg and the North-West region of Russia and to ensure safety of foodstuffs quality as well as their compliance to European sanitary requirements.

Sea Port of St. Petersburg OJSC (Morport SPb) is the largest stevedoring company of the port of St. Petersburg. The shareholders of the company are structures representing Novolipetsk Integrated Iron and Steel Works OJSC (NLMK). Morport SPb is the company managing a group of stevedoring companies: First Stevedoring Company CJSC, Second Stevedoring Company CJSC, Forth Stevedoring Company CJSC and a number of service companies.
