The 64-auto, 750-person ferry will be built in 18 months by Todd’s Pacific Shipyards Corp. subsidiary, according to state officials and Seattle-based Todd (NYSE: TOD).
The ferry will be used between Port Townsend and Keystone, state officials said, and construction is expected to generate 200 jobs.
The Port Townsend-Keystone ferry route has been without a state-owned ferry since November 2007. A leased ferry from Pierce County has sporadically been used for the route.
