Throughput of seaport Kavkaz up 11.6%, Temryuk - 73% in Jan-Nov 08

In January-November 2008, Seaport Kavkaz (Krasnodar Territory, Sea of Azov) handled 6.546 million tonnes of cargo (+11.56%, year-on-year), Interfax reports. In the reported period the port handled 1.060.95 million tonnes of general cargo, 3.070.91 million tonnes of oil products and 49,870 tonnes of fertilizers. Cargo turnover of the railway ferry link amounted to 1.835 million tonnes.

In January-November 2008, the port of Temryuk handled 2.07 million tonnes of cargo (+73.37%, year-on-year) Yuga.Ru reports. According to the source, the port handled 179,395 tonnes of sawn timber, 136,169 tonnes of chemical goods, 66,821 tonnes of grain cargo, 30,249 tonnes of scrap metal, 220,867 tonnes of non-ferrous metal, 1.429 million tonnes of general cargo, 6,474 tonnes of fertilizers.

As it was reported earlier, throughput growth I the port of Temryuk should be attributed to launching of coal shipment from the berth of Sotra-Port CJSC by Mechel Group. In January-November stevedoring company Sotra-Port increased cargo handling by 4.22 times to 1.167.13 million tonnes.

Port Kavkaz is situated at the border of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov at Kerch Strait from the side of Russia. In 2007, the port handled 6.375 million tonnes of cargo.
Commercial seaport of Temryuk is located at Taman coast of the Sea of Azov. In 2007 the port handled1.333 million tonnes of cargo.
