DocumentSign, which enables licensed users to digitally sign e-invoices created and delivered as PDF documents, allows the Antwerp Port Authority to achieve compliance with the provisions of the EU Directive on e-invoicing regarding electronic VAT rules. The EU directive requires that European VAT be implemented into the national legislation of 25 of the 27 EU states. Thus, EU suppliers of goods and services are required to deploy technology which guarantees the authenticity and integrity of all electronic invoices, while recipients must ensure storage conditions for e-invoices during a pre-established storage interval.
GlobalSign is an authorised participant in Adobe's Certified Document Services (CDS) programme, and its DocumentSign Digital ID security certificate combines digital signature and time-stamping capabilities. By leveraging DocumentSign, the Antwerp Port Authority meets the EU e-invoicing authenticity requirements and also cuts back on its carbon footprint across the supply chain.
