In January-November 2008, the port of Archangelsk handled 4.422.3 million tonnes of cargo (-9%, year-on-year), PortNews IAA learnt from Administration of Archangelsk Seaport FSE. In the reported period, the port’s stevedoring companies accepted 458,700 tonnes of cargo (+8.1%, year-on-year) including 287,500 tonnes of import cargo (+10.7%), 171,200 tonnes of coastal trade cargo (+3.9%). Import of containerized cargo amounted to 39,040 tonnes (-26.1%), machines and equipment - 7,100 tonnes (up 3.7 times, year-on-year). The volume of incoming coastal trade containerized cargo grew by 22.9%, year-on-year, to 4,800 tonnes, scrap metal – 2,200 tonnes (-44.7%), oil products – 800 tonnes (down 10.5 times), other general cargo - 163,400 tonnes (+10.4%).
In the reported period shipment of cargo from the port of Archangelsk totaled 3.963.5 million tonnes (+24.5%) including 1.686.6 million tonnes of export cargo (+19%), 2.276.9 million tonnes of coastal trade cargo (-24.6%). Export of containerized cargo amounted to 28,600 tonnes (-45.6%) including 468,180 tonnes of timber (-10.2%), 112,860 tonnes of cellulose (+28.9%), cardboard and paper 20,650 tonnes (+55.4%).
Dispatched coastal trade crude and oil products totaled 1.735.7 million tonnes (-28.2%), other general cargo – 302,500 tonnes (-26.7%), containerized cargo - 31,200 tonnes (-58.9%).
