Cathay Pacific passenger throughput down 2.2% in November

Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd<293>, Hong Kong's biggest carrier, said its passenger throughput, including its unit Dragonair, fell 2.2% to 1.98 million in November as a result of budget control of business travels caused by the global financial crisis.
Passenger load factor for the month also fell to 75.7%, representing a year-on-year decrease of 4.7%. The volume of cargo it carried in November also fell 15.4% year on year to 132,000 tons.
For the Jan.-Nov. period, the total number of passengers carried climbed 8.1% to 22.85 million, and cargo throughput also rose slightly by 0.6% to 1.53 million tons.
It was reported earlier this week that the company has cancelled two cargo freighters from Cathay Pacific and one cargo plane from Dragonair due to the deterioration of global economy.
