With its on-schedule launch, Petrojack IV is well on track for deployment off Thailand where it is expected to begin drilling operations on a five-year project for Thailand's PTT Exploration and Production (PTTEP) in the Gulf of Thailand by the end of January.
The rigs are built based on SembMarine's proprietary Pacific Class 375 mould, which is designed for operational efficiency and performance with a state-of-the-art drilling package enabling the rig to drill high-pressure and high-temperature wells of up to 30,000 feet while operating in 375 feet of water, and to accommodate 120 men.
Sister rig unit Petrojack II was delivered in March and is currently managed by Saipem and operating in Saudi Arabia under a four-year charter with Saudi Aramco. The first and third units of the series were sold to Maersk Contractors.
'The on-time completion of this high-performance deep-drilling jack-up rig named Petrojack IV is an outstanding achievement. We have found in Jurong Shipyard a trusted partner and a shipyard that delivers on its promises even in this challenging environment,' said Martin Nordaas, project director of PetroJack and general manager of Larsen Oil and Gas. 'It is the first new-build rig that PTTEP has ever contracted and we thank you for their trust which will not be forgotten. The long-term relationship with Jurong Shipyard and Singapore will continue and with present Larsen Oil and Gas projects, will last into 2011.'
The ceremony was presided by Anchulee Gunavibool, wife of Thai ambassador to Singapore Nopadol Gunavibool, in the presence of key representatives from owner PetroJack, charterer PTTEP and Jurong Shipyard.
