Gazprom is to commence loading tankers to ship liquefied natural gas (LNG) that is manufactured as part of the Sakhalin-2 project, the gas monopoly’s deputy executive board chairman Alexander Medvedev noted. Loading operations will begin on February 19 and will last for several weeks. Gazprom, which supplies gas to Europe through its network of gas pipeline facilities, is exploring the option of delivering gas to its clients that have no access to Gazprom’s pipelines using tankers. LNG to be shipped under the Sakhalin-2 project is designated for Japanese, South Korean and North American consumers.
