Universal Transshipment Complex (port of St. Petersburg) accepts first batch of cargo

Universal Transshipment Complex OJSC (the port of St. Petersburg) has accepted the first batch of cargo - 42 wagons with 3,000 tonnes of cast iron bars, the cm’s press center reports. According to the source, the company plans to handle additional 17,000 tonnes of cargo by the end of December. In January2009 this cargo will be shipped for export. Besides, the company will handle 30,000 tonnes of cast iron.

Universal Transshipment Complex OJSC is a part of Universal Cargo Logistics Holding В.V., a transport holding controlling Sea Port of Saint Petersburg OJSC and Commercial Seaport of Taganrog OJSC. The Holding’s total throughput exceeds 14 million tonnes of cargo per year.

In 2008, over RUR 85 mln was invested in construction of the Complex infrastructure facilities and purchase of necessary equipment. UTC design capacity is 3 million tonnes per year.
