Despite the year on year rise in container traffic, it was reported that November's container throughput has fallen from 435,000 TEU handled the previous month and a record 475,000 TEU handled in August of this year.
"There is a decline, but it is still considered growth year on year," the terminal's executive director Ruben Emir Gnanalingam said, speaking on the sidelines of the Symposium on Ports and Shipping New Developments, organised by the Embassy of France in Malaysia.
"We already see the decline in volume now, but we don't see it as huge," he said in a Bernama news report.
Echoing this positive sentiment, Port Klang Authority (PKA) chairman Lee Hwa Beng said Port Klang is on track to handling a total of eight million TEU this year, up from 7.12 million TEU in 2007 when the port's cargo throughput reached 136 million tonnes, the report added.
