The solemn awarding ceremony was held on December 23, 2008, when the famous sailing vessel of Dalrybvtuz finished its educational voyage and arrived at port Vladivostok.
The vice-Governor noted an important role, which a vessel plays in preparation of future staff for fleet of Russia. The vice-Governor warmly congratulated organizers and participants of the round-the-world voyage and expressed sure that there will be one more round-the-world voyage of “Pallada.”
The Maritime board of the Government of RF decided to present an award “For merits in marine activity” to the captain of “Pallada” Nikolay ZORCHENKO, chief engineer Petr KHOLDOBO, sailing master Alexander DERYABIN, boatswain Vladimir RYBKOV, the Head of safety service of “Dalrybvtuz” Anatoliy SHEVELEV for great merit in preparation of cadets to marine service during training at the educational sailing vessel “Pallada,” and also for successful finishing of the round-the-world voyage.
Nikolay ZORCHENKO thanked everybody who made a great contribution to accomplishment of the round-the-world voyage.
The educational sailing vessel “Pallada” accomplishes four educational voyages a year, almost 480 cadets of maritime educational institutions of the far-Eastern region have training there.
57 cadets of Dalrybvtuz and 62 cadets of the Far-Eastern maritime college – future mechanicians and navigators – took part in the first educational voyage after finishing of the round-the-world voyage of 2007-2008. The voyage lasted for 36 days (from November 18 to December 23, 2008). Students received their first experience: kept watch, took part in sailing rush jobs, visited ports Dalian and Pusan.
