Federal Tariff Service of the Russian Federation has left tariffs for container transportation unchanged in 2009 while tariffs for other types of transportation are to grow by 5% from January 1. According to Gudok, the decision was taken because of the decrease of container flow. Apart from this, FTS notes the fall of freight costs when speaking about transportation of containerized cargo. "Further growth of tariffs for railway transportation may cause a growth of costs for container transportation from Asia-Pacific states by Trans-Siberian railway as well as supersession of companies carrying cargo with participation of Russian railways", press center of FTS says.
As it was reported earlier, from January 1 the tariffs for railway transportation is to grow by 5%. Form July 1, it will be raised by 5.7%. Thus the tariff of December 2009 is to grow by 11% against December 2008.
