China's AVIC International Investments is looking to buy shipyards, SinoShip News reports.The Singapore-listed company recently purchased Finland-based ship design firm Deltamarin.
AVIC wants to acquire niche yards – and not just in China but across the world.
“With the gradual establishment of the shipbuilding and ship design capabilities, the company intends to build up comprehensive service capabilities in the shipping industry,” executive chairman Diao Weicheng was quoted as saying on shipbuilding website Asiasis.
