Cruise ship Astor calls at Odessa (photo)
Bahamas-flagged 177-m-long cruise liner Astor with 396 tourists on board arrived on October 29 in the port of Odessa, the Odessa Sea Commercial Port press service said. The ship arrived from Sevastopol en route to Constanta.
The ship christened Astor was launched in 1987 in Germany and soon was purchased for the Soviet Black Sea Shipping Company. In the former Soviet Union the ship was sailing under the name Fyodor Dostoevsky.
In the 1990s, the German built cruise ship was acquired by Transocean Tours and has since been operated under her original name. The vessel has enhanced ice class hull, which allows sailing on the Arctic and Antarctic shipping routes.
