DSIC’s new ship repair yard starts trial production
Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Corporation (DSIC) has started trial operation of its new ship repair and recycle yard at Changxing Island, SinoShipNews reports.
The project is jointly invested in by DSIC, PIL and Anshan Steel with RMB3.2bn, including two ship repair yards with capacity of 300,000 ton and 150,000 ton respectively and five berths ranging from 70000 ton to 300,000 ton. It is schedule to start official operation April 2013.
“As the international shipping market continues to slump, many shipowners have turned to repair old ships instead of building new ships, in order to better serve the demand, we have decided to expand the business in ship repair and recycling,” DSIC said in a release.
