Kozmino terminal’s Berth No 2 certificate handed over to Vostochny Port Authority
A certificate of Berth Number 2 of Kozmino Oil Terminal has been handed over to the Port Authority of Vostochny. The berthing facility construction was part the project of Export Oil Terminal "Spetsmornefteport Kozmino" Phase 2 (OJSC Transneft, Vostochny, Primorsky Krai), Vostochny Port Acting Harbourmaster Gennady Kukunin told PortNews.
Dredging at the berth has been completed and now the facility is able to easily accommodate 120,000DWT tankers.
Today, the Argus and the Chernomorets-16 deployed buoys on the navigational channel to Kozmino Berth No 2.
Gennady Kukunin added that since the berth has been completed, the mandatory rules of Vostochny Port will be updated.
First shipment of crude oil from Berth No 2 is expected on November 7-8, 2012.
Expansion of Spetsmornefteport Kozmino is implemented in accordance with the Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean (ESPO) pipeline project second phase. Engineering and survey at the site under the contract with Rosmorport started back in 2011. These included geological, environmental, land-surveying and diving survey of the seabed at Berth No 2. Dredging and formation of harbor area commenced in September.
Upon completion of Kozmino Oil Terminal Phase 2, which includes the construction of the last section of ESPO-2 pipeline, the facility’s annual capacity will be boosted from 15 million tons to 30 million tons of oil.
In January-September, the terminal exported 10.3 million tons of crude oil to the Asia-Pacific Region (APR).
Specialized Marine Oil Terminal Kozmino, operated by Spetsmornefteport Kozmino LLC (a subsidiary of Transneft), was commissioned in late 2009. Port Kozmino is the terminus of the ESPO Oil Pipeline (Eastern Siberia-Pacific Ocean). While the ESPO project is under construction oil cargo is delivered to the terminal by the railroad.
