The Coast Guard is working with our port partners to ensure commerce continues to flow into the port, USCG press release said.
The following guidelines and restrictions are in place:
The Port of New York and New Jersey is open to all vessel transits with the exception of the Arthur Kill south of the Goethals Bridge.
Vessel entry to the Port of New York and New Jersey and anchorage use is limited to vessels with an approved facility berth or orders to bunker or lighter at anchor. Vessels must contact Vessel Traffic Service New York on VHF radio channels 12 or 14 or calling 718-354-4088 to request an exemption to these transit restrictions.
Recreational vessels are authorized to depart or transit within the Port of New York and New Jersey to seek safe haven.
Mariners are advised to exercise caution when transiting due to aids to navigation possibly being off station and unreliable. VTS Measures may be enacted based upon current weather conditions.
As the port opens, agents are reminded to provide updates to the pilots and facilities to ensure the efficient entry of vessels.
All mariners should use caution and be prepared for delays due to the reported debris. Vessels are requested to provide observations regarding monitored water conditions and location and description of debris of VTS on VHF radio channels 12 or 14.
More specific guidelines and exceptions on the status of the port are posted to New York Homeport.
As operations continue, agents are reminded to provide updates to the pilots and facilities to ensure the efficient entry of vessels.
