Sevmash to launch SSBN Vladimir Monomakh on Dec. 30
Sevmash Shipyard plans to hold an official launching ceremony on December 30 for the nuclear-powered submarine Vladimir Monomakh, United Shipbuilding Corporation said. Russian Ballistic missile submarine Vladimir Monomakh is the third ship of the fourth generation Borei class vessels.
SSBN Vladimir Monomakh was laid down at Severodvinsk-based Sevmash Shipyard on March 19, 2006. The project was developed by the Rubin Design Bureau. The submarine will be armed with 16 Bulava missiles, the newest submarine-launched ballistic missiles. The Vladimir Monomakh and its sister ships will replace the Delta class in the Russian Navy.
United Shipbuilding Corporation was founded in 2007 as a 100-percent state-owned group of companies by the Presidential Decree № 394 (March 21, 2007). The Group builds ships for Russian customers and exports its products to 20 countries.
