The North Sea Sullom Voe terminal, one of Europe's largest oil and gas facilities, halted shipping operations because of high winds, Scotland's Shetland Islands Council said.Docking at the export facility was suspended at 1 a.m. U.K. time, the council said today on its Web site. It gave no indication when operations would resume. London-based BP Plc, Europe's biggest oil company, operates Sullom Voe on behalf of a group of companies.The terminal handles oil from more than 20 fields in the North Sea, including Brent-blend and Schiehallion crude, which is shipped by pipeline and shuttle tankers.A vigorous depression is moving across the U.K. this weekend, with gusts of up to 80 miles an hour predicted for parts of southern Scotland and northern England tomorrow afternoon, the U.K.'s Met Office said on its Website.
