OOCL to revise Emergency Bunker Surcharge
OOCL (Vietnam) Co., a local branch of container shipping line Orient Overseas Container Line Limited, says effective January 1, 2013 it will be decreasing its Emergency Bunker Surcharge (EBS) for all outbound shipments from Vietnam, Ship & Bunker reports.
The decrease will be applicable to Intra-Asia ports with the exception of Japan, South Korea, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Middle East.
The change will see all cargo to applicable destinations originating from Ho Chi Minh, Hai Phong, Danang, and Qui Nhon with an EBS Quantum of $42 for a twenty-foot container, and $84 for both forty-foot standard and high cube containers inclusive of V.A.T..
The company did not elaborate on a reason for the reduction, but the price of IFO380 at key price indicator port Singpaore is currently on a three-month downward trend, dropping $-45.50 per metric tonne (pmt) in that time.
