ORLEN signs contract for crude oil supplies directly from Rosneft
PKN ORLEN signed the first on record long-term contract for crude oil supplies directly from a producer, press release of PKN ORLEN reads. Its partner is Rosneft Oil Company, the largest Russian oil and gas company.
The contract, whose value is estimated at about PLN 46 bn (USD 15 bn), provides for the supply of approximately 18m tonnes of crude oil. The agreed volumes of REBCO crude oil will be delivered to PKN ORLEN by Rosneft Oil Company through the Druzhba Pipeline. The contract was concluded for the period from February 1st 2013 to January 31st 2016. Under its terms, crude oil may be alternatively shipped by sea to Gdańsk.
“The contract with Rosneft Oil Company marks the end of the process of contracting crude oil supplies for the plant in Płock necessary for the years to come. We have thus managed to ensure that almost 80% of our supplies will be made under long-term contracts. But this contract is important also in another respect. This is the first time in the almost 12-year history of the Company that we have signed a long-term contract for crude oil supplies directly with its producer,” said Jacek Krawiec, President of the Management Board of PKN ORLEN.
In addition to the contract signed today, PKN ORLEN is party to two other long-term contracts for supplies of crude oil to Płock. At the end of 2012, the contract executed with Mercuria Energy Trading was extended by three years. In 2012, the company also executed a contract with Souz Petrolium, which will remain in force for two more years.
