RZhD investment in railway approach to Ust-Luga and Mga-Ivangorod link exceed RUR 19 bln in 2012
In 2012, ivestment of Russian Railway (RZhD OJSC) in reconstruction of Mga-Gatchina-Weimarn-Ivangorod line and rail access to seaports on the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland exceeded RUR 19 bln, RZhD press center informs.
The Project of “Overall Reconstruction of "Mga-Gatchina-Weimarn-Ivangorod line and rail access to seaports on the southern shore of the Gulf of Finland” is aimed at the increase of cargo turnover between Russia and EU states via Ust-Luga port.
The project implementation meets the schedule.
From 2005 when the reconstruction began, RZhD invested over RUR 64 bln. Total investments in the project implementation are estimated at RUR 129 bln. The project implies the reconstruction of 271.5 km of railway and over 419 km of overhead system, construction of 11 new and repair of 2 transformer sub-stations. Upon the completion 6,500-ton cargo trains will be launched along the renovated electric traction lines.
