Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg transferred RUR 253 mln for port infrastructure development

In 2012 JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (“SP SPb”) transferred 253 mln. rubles for the modernization and technical re-equipment of its cargo terminals, the company's press release reads.

 

Funds were transferred for the modernization of asphalt concrete pavement of the ro-ro terminal, port security system and for the reconstruction of port railway tracks which allowed to increase throughput capacity and secure continuous traffic of trains.

 

Part of the funds was transferred for the lease payments for equipment, purchased within the programme on modernization of the fleet of handling equipment.

 

Besides, the company continues to finance the modernization of heat supply facilities in the port. Last year the works on hydraulic commissioning of utilities were completed after connecting them to networks of State Enterprise “Fuel and Energy Company SPb”. At the present time the facility is being operated.

 

 

JSC “Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg” (included in UCL Port – stevedoring division of the International transportation group UCL Holding) – is the largest operator, rendering services on handling of all types of dry cargoes in the Greater Port of Saint-Petersburg.  It operates by modern specialized terminals for handling of container, reefer, ro-ro cargoes, cars and metals. In 2012 the turnover of the company amounted to 8.7 mln. tons of cargoes.
